Job Purpose

Technical project and production support (application and database) for company’s Microsoft Dynamics CRM implementations

 

Dimensions

The SQL database support functions include, design, implementation and management of SQL Server 2008 databases which includes Analysis Services

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform database Extract Transform and Load (ETL) functions using Microsoft SQL Integration Services
  • Perform database performance tuning and query optimisation
  • Perform ad hoc data mining activities and other campaign analytics
  • Communicate with internal users or external clients in order to gather reporting requirements
  • Work closely with the CRM application development and system integration teams
  • Maintain and create web-based reporting using Excel dashboards and Microsoft reporting services
  • Use Visual Source Safe allowing versioning of source code
  • Perform new CRM installations and/or new software releases using Windows Active Directory and SQL database clustering

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Work closely with the CRM application development and system integration teams
  • General Microsoft Dynamics CRM project implementations and production support
  • Design, develop and maintain the credit data marts
  • Data mining and data analytics for various marketing campaigns
  • Software patch management
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise the performance of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM application and database
  • Perform database Extract Transform and Load (ETL) functions using Microsoft SQL Integration Services
  • Maintain, gather business requirements and development new credit and CRM performance indicator reports
  • Maintain and create web-based reporting using Excel dashboards and Microsoft reporting services
  • Perform new CRM installations and/or new software releases using Windows Active Directory and SQL database clustering
  • Upgrading of Microsoft Dynamics CRM application

Context

a) Operating Environment:

The incumbent works independently but is required to work within policies and procedures and guidance provided for by the Applications Manager.

Knowledge and Experience:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Suitable tertiary or computer science degree (Minimum 3 years) or the relevant certification in IT related field

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 8 years database development experience in Microsoft SQL Server 200/2005/2008
  • Industry experience includes Campaign Management and Credit and Risk reporting in the financial services industry
  • Systems integration experience with Oracle Flexcube (FCC), IBM MQ Series and Tieto (Card Management System) web services
  • General Database Administration (DBA) with skills in Transact SQL development
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Applications:
    • Configuration Tools
    • Performance Tools
    • Integration Services (SSIS)
    • Analysis Services (SSASA)
    • Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.Net
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Source Safe

KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory and related systems
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008:
  • Transact SQL
  • Stored Procedures and functions
  • Triggers
  • Database Performance tuning
  • Query optimisation
  • Knowledge and experience with Very Large Databases (VLDB’s), or large data warehouses
  • Knowledge of object-oriented software design concepts and the full system development life cycle (SDLC) would be a plus
